Transition & Placement Support
Foster care and adoption involve many transitions. A child may enter a new home, move between placements, return to a biological family, or begin the process of adoption. Each transition can affect the child and the people caring for them.
These changes can happen quickly, leaving little time to process what is happening.
Therapy can provide a place to slow down, talk through the changes, and understand how they are affecting your family.
We may work together around:
Adjusting to a new foster placement
Changes in family routines and roles
Supporting a child through a major transition
Understanding behaviors and emotional responses
Grief and loss
Reunification
Adoption
Placement disruption
Relationships with birth families
Uncertainty about the future
Creating stability during periods of change
Transitions can bring questions about where everyone fits, what comes next, and how relationships may change. Children may have difficulty expressing what they are experiencing, and caregivers may need support understanding how to respond.
Therapy can give your family time to talk through these experiences and find ways to support connection and stability.
You do not have to have everything figured out before reaching out. We can start with what is happening right now and work from there.
